Since November 2020, BVRio has been participating in preparatory meetings for the implementation of the Amazon Forest Forum, a regional forum of the Forest Dialogue, whose objective is to become a reference space for the construction of solutions for the protection and sustainable use of forests in the Brazilian Amazon.

Over the past two months, extractive and indigenous community leaders, professionals and third sector activists, researchers and representatives of companies in the forestry sector, met to elaborate the strategic plan of the Amazon Forest Forum, officially launched on June 2.

The Director of Policies and Institutional Relations AT BVRio, Beto Mesquita, member of the Forest Dialogue Coordination Council and the working group that supported the articulation of the new forum, highlighted the importance of this forum as a qualified space for interinstitutional and intersectoral dialogue and cooperation, to promote the regional bioeconomy based on the standing forest.

For the first time, a regional forum for Forest Dialogue will have the sustainable management of native forests as its main theme. In the other forums, tree plantations for the production of wood, pulp and cellulose were the main focus of the debates.

The Regional Forums should promote the participation of all companies and organisations that operate with forestry and the environment in the region of their influence. For more information, see the Forest Dialogue website.
