BVRio has taken part in a workshop for the co-creation of Circularity of Plastics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, promoted by the Circular Plastics in the Americas Programme (CPAP) on 24 August.

Often deemed hard to recycle, beverage cartons are the focus of a new initiative run by Circular Action, a BVRio group company, in partnership with Tetra Pak and Packaging Recycling Organisation Vietnam (PRO Vietnam), which will not only provide a recycling solution, but which will also deliver additional income to potentially hundreds of informal waste pickers.

Since April this year, the second phase of our 'Fishing for litter' project has been supporting 25 families from Ilha do Governador, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, to remove waste from Guanabara Bay.

After a successful trial, the second phase of our project in partnership with Italian social enterprise, Ogyre, to manage the removal of solid waste from Guanabara Bay in Rio de Janeiro, by local fishers, is now underway.

BVRio has signed a commitment this week to support the Circular Plastics Programme in the Americas (CPAP), led by the European Union (EU).

The Circular Action Hub (CAH) has reached 100 registered projects, in just 12 months of operation. Each of the 100 initiatives are providing important environmental waste recovery services and are displayed in this international showcase aimed at connecting projects with funders.

The Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) has approved the state bill 1.424/16, by Congressman Carlos Minc (PSB), to create the State Payment Program by Environmental Recycling Services (PSAR).
